Wash Manager

Objetivo

Intermon Oxfam is looking to fill the position of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Manager based in our office in Wau (Western Bahr-el-Ghazal), South Sudan for the International Cooperation Department.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting hierarchically to the Emergency Manager in Waw and functionally to the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Manager in Barcelona (Spain) at IO Headquarters, the selected person will be in charge of contributing to analyse the humanitarian needs of the country and coordinate the Water, Sanitation and Health and Hygiene Promotion activities for the Humanitarian Department in Sudan.

Key responsibilities would be:

- Revision of Intermon Oxfam Water & Sanitation and Health & Hygiene Promotion strategies in the country.
- Performance of exploratory missions and formulation of proposals on the WASH sector in humanitarian crisis.
- Strengthening technical capacities in the country (of a new team or the identified counterparts).
- Participating on the analysis, revision and writing of the Contingency Plan (including Cholera Preparedness Plan).
- Giving technical support to the Risk Management activities on the wash sector.
- Preparing, planning and giving technical support to the Water, Sanitation and Health and Hygiene Promotion activities on going in Intermon Oxfam Humanitarian responses.
- Writing necessary reports on the development on these activities.
- Assuring the quality of the purchased equipment and the implementation of the Watsan and PHP Projects.
- Assuring the coordination with the Logistics and the Finance Managers of the country, respecting their controls and procedures.
Supporting the logistics department in developing a database of local suppliers and contractors related to PHE and PHP activities.
- Representing Intermon Oxfam and co-ordinating the Water, Sanitation and Health and Hygiene Promotion activities with the other agencies present and local and national authorities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

- Contract of employment: Contract of one year.
- Salary: According to the Intermón Oxfam’s country salary scale.

Perfil:

REQUIRED PROFILE

- University degree or equivalent engineering qualification; a specific qualification in Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (Watsan) or Environmental will be valued.
- A minimum experience of 2 years in Water and Sanitation humanitarian programmes.
- Knowledge and experience regarding water engineering (water collection and supply systems as well as analysis and treatment) and sanitation systems in humanitarian contexts.
- Knowledge and experience regarding health and hygiene promotion and community participation in humanitarian contexts.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Computers: standard knowledge level and a very good knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with a team in an intense environment.
